Palacio de Cultura Banamex - Palacio de Iturbide
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Count San Mateo de Valparaíso gave his daughter the Palacio de Iturbide as her dowry when she married the Marquis de Moncada. They say the Count was trying to protect her against a husband with expensive tastes. The striking building, designed by Guerrero y Torres, owes its name to the Creole nobleman Agustín de Iturbide, who proclaimed Mexico's independence and was for a time a guest of the Marquis de Moncada.
