The Michelin Guide's review
The cathedral, built of yellow Jeumont stone, is a remarkable Gothic edifice, steeped in history, legends and piety. The nave is one of the highest in France but it is particularly renowned for its windows, which occupy a surface area of 6 500sq m, hence the cathedral's nickname of «God's lantern». Master glassmakers of every period are represented, ranging from Hermann of Munster (14c) to Marc Chagall, not forgetting Jacques Villon and Roger Bissière.
