  The Michelin Guide's review
Situated on a hillock overlooking the Acheron and the Cocytus was once one of the most famous oracles in Ancient Greece. Dedicated to Hades and Persephone, it was where the living could communicate with the spirits of the dead. The traces of the Nekromanteion that are now visible are Hellenistic (3C BC), but the building was already in existence in the Mycenaean period (1550-1100 BC). Today it presents as a huge complex with thick stone walls.
