The Michelin Guide's review
These 12ha of gardens are among the most beautiful in Italy. The first exotic plant was brought to Merano in the mid-19C. It has since been joined by a vast collection of species from all around the world. Different themes and attractions: forests, Mediterranean atmosphere, terraced gardens, landscapes of Alto-Adige. In the castle, where the Empress Elisabeth of Astria resided in 1870 and 1889, an extraordinary museum, the Touriseum, recounts with plenty of humour and lucidity the history of tourism in the Alto-Adige and at the same time the history of Merano and its mountains. A fun and fascinating visit!
