Mashantucket Pequot Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This tribally operated museum presents the native and natural history of southern New England, including the history and culture of the Mashantucket Pequot Indians. Located on the original reservation, the glass and concrete facility embraces woodland views and integrates stone and gurgling streams. Inside the museum, walk-through dioramas, documentary videos, campfire aromas and recorded bird songs create a multisensory experience that focuses on the Pequots' evolving life from prehistoric times to the present. A highlight is the 16C Pequot Village, a 22,000sq ft re-creation of a native dwelling site.
