The Michelin Guide's review
The splendid mausoleums, where members of the Saadian dynasty were laid to rest, were built in the late 16C by Ahmed the Golden. A century later, not daring to demolish them, Moulay Ismail sealed them in an enclosure that only a privileged few were allowed to enter. In 1917 the tombs were rediscovered and an access corridor was made in the wall. Discover this magnificently decorated necropolis, including the Hall of Twelve Columns, often considered to be the masterpiece of Hispano-Moorish art.
