The island of Nosy Mangabe, just off the coast at Maroantsetra in Antongil Bay, is accessible by boat. This nature reserve, which is part of the Masoala Park, is covered by thick forest inhabited by birds (nearly 100 different species), lemurs (including the aye-aye) and chameleons. The beaches here are particularly beautiful.
