The Michelin Guide's review
The abbey, located at the edge of a vast crater lake, creates a feeling of solidity and balance. The abbey church (12C) is a Romanesque basilica with a triple nave. From the outside, it recalls the cathedrals of Worms, Speyer and Mainz. Be sure to see the atrium, decorated with sculpted capitals. The strange baldaquin over the altar is said to reflect a Moorish influence. The crypt is the oldest part of the edifice.
