Cristo Redentore
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The white statue (22m tall) of the Redeemer, which, astonishingly, turns away from the sea, dominates the Monte San Biagio, from where there is a superb panoramic view over the Gulf of Policastro and the Calabrian coast. A mix of marble and cement, the statue was made in 1965 by the Florentine Bruno Innocenti, under the direction of Stefano Rivetti, a Piedmontese entrepreneur, who, in the 1960s, was the promoter of the development of tourism in Maratea.
