The Michelin Guide's review
Built in the 15C by Leon Battista Alberti, this basilica is a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance architecture. The façade made up of Classical architectural features conceals a single nave with barrel vaulting and walls painted in trompe-I'oeil. The first chapel on the left houses the tomb of artist Andrea Mantegna, while the dome was completed by Filippo Juvarra between 1732 and 1765.
