The Michelin Guide's review
This 18C seigniorial residence has a Rocaille-style exterior. The interior is fabulously decorated with panels of azulejos from the Coimbra School (1740), the most outstanding in the entrance hall. In the noble hall, the azulejos take the form of allegories of the four continents that were known at the time and the elements. The azulejos in the ballroom, in a different style (1770), add yellow to blue and white and illustrate "the world upside down".
