The Michelin Guide's review
Manadas, a picturesque hamlet, is best known for the church of Santa Bárbara, which stands below the village near the sea. A small road leads to it. Dating from the 18th century, it is one of the prettiest churches in the Azores. Its extremely rich interior decoration was carried out by an Italian artist. The carved cedar ceiling is adorned with naive sculptures such as Saint George slaying the dragon. The azulejos tell the story of Saint Barbara.
