The Michelin Guide's review
Dating from 1932, the North dyke was built to separate the Zuiderzee - now known as the Ijsselmeer - from the sea. Now that the dyke is not far off its centenary, it is about to be restored: information regarding the project can be seen at the Afsluitdijk Wadden Center. Extending for 30km, the dyke offers numerous interesting sights and beautiful viewpoints.
