The Michelin Guide's review
The cathedral of Magdeburg (early 13C) was the first attempt to bring the Gothic style of the great French cathedrals to Germany. Outside, the Paradise Doorway displays statues of the Wise and Foolish Virgins. Inside, the church is rich in sculpture: statues of St Maurice, Christ and the Church and the bronze tomb of Archbishop Ernst of Saxony.
