This remarkable museum offers a rich introduction to the country's history. The monumental excavation carried out by Christian Bauer has resulted in the addition of a new section resembling a huge block of stone, which stands alongside the original building. The museum is arranged according to four main themes (five floors of archaeology, including a rich Gallo-Roman section; a collection of coins; decorative and popular arts; and the dense Fine Arts section), from the basement rooms to the bright and airy Fine Arts section.
