The Michelin Guide's review
This hunting pavilion which seems to have the decor of a theatre, was commissioned by King Carlos and carried out by the Italian architect, Luigi Manini. Built between 1888 and 1907, it is a pastiche of Manueline art. You will find the profile of the Tower of Belém and the decoration of the cloister of the Jeronimos. Notice how impressive the size of the stairwell is. Its walls are covered in huge panels of azulejos, depicting battle scenes from Portugal's history.
