National villa Guinigi
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
In 1418 Paolo Guinigi had this country house built around ten minutes' walk from his main residence. Now entirely restored, the gardens and building again appear as they originally did. The house accommodates archaeological collections, Romanesque sculptures, sizable panels of inlaid wood (a Luccan speciality during the Renaissance) and works that are representative of Luccan painting, including The Ecstasy of Saint Catherine by Pompeo Batoni.
