  The Michelin Guide's review
From Luang Prabang, you just need to cross the Mekong in order to go back in time, with life on the right bank of the Mekong following a tranquil and rustic rhythm where most people move around on foot or by bicycle. Several footpaths pass through the teak forests, providing an insight into rural life. They also offer access to the few pagodas located on this side of the river: Vat Xieng Men with its Burmese influence, Vat Chomphet perched on a hill, and Vat Long Khoun with its delicate old frescoes.
