The Michelin Guide's review
It has been estimated that the foundation of this highly venerated pagoda dates from the 14C or 15C, making it one of the oldest religious sites in Luang Prabang. The sim (sanctuary) of the Vat Manorom is home to a colossal bronze Buddha, 6m high and weighing over 2 tons, which was created in 1372. It is reminiscent of the refined style and fluid lines of Sukhothai, which existed at the time in Siam. The external walls of the sim are made up of a series of contemporary Buddhist frescoes.
