The Michelin Guide's review
The attractive main thoroughfare on Luang Prabang's peninsula is lined by small cafés, boutiques and a mix of colonial and religious architecture, including five gracious pagodas lining either side of the street. The buildings here dating from the French protectorate period are made from brick and are single storey in height. It is this harmonious fusion of architecture from the Far East and the West that UNESCO has highlighted by adding Luang Prabang to its World Heritage List.
