The Michelin Guide's review
This 100m-high hill (phu) is the sacred mountain of Luang Prabang. Its 330 steps lead to the That Chomsi, a white and gold stupa crowned by seven royal parasols. The view from the platform, encompassing the town and the Mekong river, is especially romantic at sunset. The footpath descends the other side of the hill towards the Nam Khan river, winding its way between statues and small sanctuaries, one of which contains the sacred footprint (pra bat) of Buddha.
