The Michelin Guide's review
Lago Enriquillo, the largest lake in the Caribbean, extends from the Sierras de Neiba in the north to Bahoruco in the south. Its waters are very salty - the result of a body of water gradually being enclosed by dry land. Its size varies depending on rainfall. American crocodiles, which like salt water, have taken up residence here, as have pink flamingoes, terns, herons and a host of bird species. Isla Cabritos is a wild paradise in the middle of the lake.
