The Michelin Guide's review
Several rivers rise up in Parque José del Carmen Ramírez: Yaque del Sur, San Juan and Mijo. Sabana Yegua dam on the Yaque del Sur feeds the valley of Azua and the region of Barahona; that of Sabaneta, on Río San Juan, supplies the valley of San Juan de la Maguana. Creole pine, sabine, oblong-leafed cigua blanca and cedar trees grow abundantly on this face. Temperatures drop to 4°C and the average yearly temperature is around 12 to 18°C. This park receives half the rainfall compared to that of the northern face.
