The Michelin Guide's review
Los Angeles' Japanese neighbourhood was founded in the late 19C by the first Japanese immigrants. It is home to the majority of the Japanese community in L.A. In First Street, between San Pedro Street and Central Avenue, there are a few early-20C buildings. To the south, a huge wooden gate marks the entrance to the Japanese Village Plaza, a small, lively pedestrian street with all the neighbourhood's restaurants.
