The Michelin Guide's review
In the summer of 1934, farmers from the valleys surrounding Los Angeles gathered here to sell produce. Although a few butchers and greengrocers continue to do business with the locals, world cuisine stalls now cater to most of the curious visitors to this open-air market. Local stars feature the Cajun-Creole restaurant, A Gombo Pot, which serves spicy alligator meat and Mr Marcel, renowned for its fine soups, wines and cheeses.
