Eastern Columbia Building
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Faced in turquoise and gold glazed terra cotta, the 13-story Art Deco landmark (1930) presents a bevy of geometric shapes, zigzags, chevrons and stylized animal and plant forms. Atop the building, you'll see a four-sided, two-story clock tower, the word "Eastern" in neon (the building was formerly the headquarters of the Eastern Outfitting Company and the Columbia Outfitting Company) and a central smokestack surrounded by four stylized flying buttresses. The two-story vestibule sports a blue-and-gold terra-cotta sunburst.
