The Michelin Guide's review
Inigo Jones designed a very sober building of harmonious proportions in the Tuscan style (1633) for Covent Garden which unfortunately burned to the ground in 1795. The current building, rebuilt after the fire, is a faithful reproduction of the original plan. Note in particular the unusual blind façade topped by a triangular pediment facing the square. The church porch was used as a meeting point for the main characters in Pygmalion (1912) by George Bernard Shaw, Professor Higgins and the flower girl, Eliza Doolittle.
