The Michelin Guide's review
Joining Piccadilly to St James's Palace, this street underwent rapid development and, in the late 17C, was lined with huge residences, including those of merchants who had fled the City after the Plague of 1665 and the Great Fire of 1666. Nowadays, the street still has a "distinguished" feel, with its wealth of 18C buildings, clubs and shops displaying an aristocratic elegance.
