The Michelin Guide's review
Designed by Charles Barry (1795-1860), modified in 1950, Parliament Square consists of a neat patch of lawn in the centre decorated with statues of important statesman from the Victorian era (Viscount Palmeston by Thomas Woslner in 1876) and more recent bronze statues of Marshal Smuts by Jacob Espstein, and especially impressive is the magnificent statue of Churchill, powerfully portrayed by Ivor Jones in 1973.
