Right in the centre of London, Sloane Square is a very lively place thanks to the Royal Court Theatre (with a pioneering repertory since 1870), the Peter Jones department store (1936) and WHSmith's, a large bookshop which sells foreign newspapers and magazines. There is also a plaque commemorating the inventor of daylight saving or summer time, adopted in 1916.
