The Michelin Guide's review
The Church of St Saviour and St Mary Overie became a cathedral in 1905 when the diocese of Southwark was founded; it had previously been part of the diocese of Winchester. To the left of the southwest portal, the Gothic arcading bears the marks of the fire of 1206. At the end of the nave there are 12 keystones that come from the 15C timberwork, which was destroyed in 1830. From the transept crossing, with its impressive copper chandelier (1680), there is a lovely view of the 13C chancel.
