The Michelin Guide's review
On the banks of the Thames, the Globe Theatre, Tate Modern and Millennium Bridge perfectly illustrate the marriage of history and modernity that characterises Bankside. This former village became industrialised in the 19C, but was severely damaged by bombing during the Second World War. More recently, this district to the south of London Bridge has experienced a revival and continues to reinvent itself in anticipation of a bright future.
