The Michelin Guide's review
This true oasis of tranquility (a rarity on this stretch of the Costa Brava!) was restored in 2006. Inspired by Italian Renaissance gardens, the grounds were laid out in 1919 by landscape architect Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí. The terraced gardens are criss-crossed by avenues and brick stairways carpeted in ivy. Thick at ground-level, the vegetation rises gracefully to the treetops, although trees (pines and cypresses) are relatively sparse to maximise the views of the coastline and sea.
