The Michelin Guide's review
Stonebow is a replacement of an earlier 14C gate, built on the site of the southernmost Roman gate. The east range is late 14C, the west early 16C. The gate and Guildhall a little further up were built in the 15C. The niches in the two towers flanking the archway contain statues of the Virgin Mary and the Archangel Gabriel.
