The Michelin Guide's review
Opened in 1950 on a lush lakeside estate bequeathed by Bostonian businessman Julian de Cordova, this museum, whose holdings boast over 2,000 works, showcases contemporary American art, with particular emphasis on New England artists. The 35-acre wooded grounds provide a setting for 75 monumental works, exhibited on a rotating basis. The museum is complemented by the interactive Art ExperienCenter, which explores the theory of abstract art.
