The Michelin Guide's review
The ruins of what was one of the most prestigious sanctuaries of pre-Columbian Peru stand at the mouth of the fertile Río Lurín valley, between the coast and the southern Panamerican Highway. Dedicated to Pachacamac, the God who created the world, and more specifically to his oracles, this distinguished pilgrimage centre was respected by the Incas, who built a temple devoted to the Sun next to the first. The Spanish destroyed both edifices.
