The Michelin Guide's review
Maihaugen is one of the finest open-air museums in Norway, on account of the impressive number of wooden buildings it has assembled here in 396ha of woodland. Created in 1904, the Sandvig collections are made up of almost 150 painstakingly reconstructed traditional Gudbrandsdal houses (18C and 19C). Don't miss the stave church, rebuilt as it would have been in the 18C, or the interior museum's ethnography collection. In summer, craftsmen work in the workshops.
