Cathédrale N.-D.-de-la-Treille
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Started in the mid-19C, the construction of Lille's neo-Gothic cathedral was only completed in 1999, with its façade featuring a rose window designed by the artist Ladislas Kijno. The bronze portal, the last work by Georges Jeanclos (1933-97), is at once minimalist and dotted with detailed human figures. In the chancel, a statue of Notre Dame de la Treille stands over the altar. Housed in the crypt, there is a centre of contemporary sacred art showing 124 works from the Gilbert Delaine collection in rotation.
