The Michelin Guide's review
Mined from 1931 to 1971, Delloye Colliery is today the Mining Heritage Centre, the largest mining museum in France in 8,000m² of buildings spread over 8ha. The visit includes the showers and lantern shop, before you are invited to don a helmet and go down a shaft to the old galleries. Several extraction sites have been reconstituted, which chart the evolution of this profession, in a dark, almost scary atmosphere.
