The Michelin Guide's review
A real museum of religious art, the treasury at Sint Pieterskerk is home to masterpieces such as a small copy of the Descent from the Cross by Van der Weyden (1443) and an outstanding Romanesque-period wooden Head of Christ known as the "Christ of the Tortured Cross". In the chancel, note the superb lace-like tabernacle by Mathieu de Layens (1450) made from Avesnes stone.
