Refuge de Grasla
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
During the winter of 1794, 2 000 local inhabitants fled the troops of General Turreau's "infernal columns" and sought refuge in the Grasla forest, where they survived in conditions of extreme hardship. Their village has been recreated in this impressive natural setting, enabling visitors to discover this chapter in the history of the Vendée. The 600ha of surrounding forest have inspired an exhibition highlighting the skills involved in the craft of carpentry.
