Mevlevi Tekke - Whirling Dervishes Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Music and singing, as well as dancing, were the ways to reach God according to the Mystic Jalaluddin Rumi. In the 13C he founded a religious order, the members of which are usually known in the West as Whirling Dervishes. From the 17C until the 1950s, they owned a monastery in Nicosia, since turned into a museum. The interesting exhibition charts the history of the order and its practices, with costumes and musical instruments completing the presentation.
