The Michelin Guide's review
An elaborate bell tower of fine golden stones: a subject of choice for photographers. For Eastern Christians, the church stands above the burial place of Lazarus, who is said to have lived in Cyprus after his resurrection and to have died here. His tomb was discovered in the 9C and his relics transported to Constantinople. But not all of them: in 1970, a few bones were found beneath the altar. Today, many believers come here and slip into the crypt after kissing the images of the sumptuous 17C iconostasis.
