The Michelin Guide's review
This old abbey, which is a fine example of early Gothic, has been restored after the fires of 1944. The exceptionally long nave preserves a Romanesque appearance. Inside the chancel and chapels in the flat chevet denote the Cistercian influence. There are recumbent figures of Raoul de Coucy, a Laon knight and of Jeanne of Flanders ,abbess of Sauvoir-sous-Laon. On the tympanums of the side doors, there is a Beheading of St John the Baptist and Martyrdom of St Laurent on the rack.
