The road from Barrô to Lamego runs above the Douro and the northern slope of its valley with strips of vines on stakes and olive trees growing in terraces. A few villages and quintas (vineyard estates) are scattered about. Before you enter Pousada, take in the view from the Boa Vista Lookout of the white houses of Régua piled up on the riverbank, and the arid, greyish peaks of the Serra do Marão against the horizon.
