The Michelin Guide's review
Built around 1770, this country mansion is a very fine wooden Rococo manor, both in keeping with the European taste of the time and true to Norwegian tradition. A protected historical building, it was restored, regaining its original appearance, and turned into a museum. The collections illustrate the way of life of Bergen's upper classes in the 18C and 19C. The garden has also been carefully recreated to reflect how it might have been in the late 18C.
