The striking blue-green to turquoise waters of this lake are fed by Peyto Lake, that is fed by the Glacier of the same name. Mistaya Mountain rises abruptly from the opposite shore of the lake, with Peyto peak to the left. The road winds down to Mistaya valley. At Lower Waterfowl Lake lookout (km56/mi35) there is a fine view of Howse Peak (3,290m/10,794ftand pyramidal Mt. Chephren (3,307m/10,850ft).
