The Michelin Guide's review
It is worth the detour if only to see the "Almighty" Christ Pantocrator that adorns the dome of the church. Far from portraying a terrible god, it offers an extremely gentle face, showing sad compassion for the sins of humankind. The late-12C paintings follow the grand Byzantine style of the Comnenian period: shimmering colours, elegant silhouettes, refined draping. The work of a master who probably came from Constantinople.
