The Michelin Guide's review
This vast architectural complex built between 1712 and 1718 for the congregation of Bethlehem was Havana's first Baroque-style building. Abandoned in 1925 and subsequently damaged by fire in 1991, the church and convent are gradually regaining their splendour thanks to an ongoing restoration programme (the complex has been painted yellow). Today, the convent has returned to its original caring function, and is home to a retirement home and a centre for disabled children.
