The Michelin Guide's review
Completed in 1591, this church played an important religious and cultural role in Latin America. In 1842, the church was converted into a warehouse; four years later, the apse was destroyed in a storm (replaced by a trompe l'oeil painting). Since 1990, the church has undergone restoration and is now used to host concerts. The nave displays ivories and silverwork, while the cloister is home to a model of the convent and a collection of religious objects.
